Virtual Tea Party – and Trent’s Weekly Smile (flowers and coffee too)

Hello Readers.

This is the first time I have been able to join in with Su’s virtual tea 9.17.20

1) For tea today, I am using a mug my son gave me a couple of years ago. It is not an everyday kind of cup- it is one that I use “sometimes” (I do not want to “wear it down” and also it is made of cheap ceramic and might be better as a marker holder) — but I DO LOVE the handle, the colors, and the singing mouth.  It is a cup to use.

Which kind of bagged tea would you like? No loose leaf tea today – just a “cuppa with a bagga” (ha). The Stash English Breakfast is my fav lately – but today I will have the white tea – not a fav – but it is late and it is a nice wind down tea.
Double bagging it because the cup is a little grande

Okay – if you prefer coffee – I can make you some leftover Italian Roast in the press pot:

Now – here is what made me smile today (linking to Trent’s weekly smile)

Flowers in the Light Drizzle of a Rain

Sure wish I could send some rain to our California folks.

In August  – our area had the “second wettest month of August since records have been kept” – and a few times these huge mushrooms showed up (they were easy to gently remove – then I sprayed a very little bleach on the spot and all was well).

Mushrooms so huge
If you notice the Vinca to the left – this summer was special with Vinca. I think the mulch came with hidden Vinca seeds because these beauties came up all over the front garden. It was such a treat – especially when they were in bloom during the high heat weeks of late July – when the Petunias mostly fizzled out
some of the free Vinca I had so many of this year

From our hostess, Su:

The invitation

I’d love to hear from you. What are you doing/reading/making? Your thoughts on the food, the drinks, and whatever I’m rambling about. What’s making you happy or pissing you off?  Your comments make blogging so much more interesting.

And if you’d like to contribute a post of your own — even better. Maybe a shot of your cuppa and/or whatever you’re having with it. A recipe if you like.

I’ll update each of my posts with a ping-back to everyone’s in the same way as I do with The Changing Seasons.

#virtualteaparty2020 for anyone on Instagram who wants to post images (or video?)

    1. Hi – I am new to the tea group (but I ha e known the host for a long while and like Su a lot) anyhow – it runs monthly and just an idea – but maybe you can join one month and bring us a poem to go with the tea??

      1. That’s a lovely invitation. Thank you. I’ll think about it. I haven’t written poetry for a while so I can’t promise that I’ll be able to produce one per month. We will see, though.

  1. That’s a special mug, Yvette, and very ‘you’ 🙂 🙂 I always love rain spattered flowers and those are beautiful photos. At 7 this morning I was up on our top landing watching thunder and lightning and then our first rain of this year hammering down. Desperately needed here, but I would willingly share with Oregon and California.

    1. Hi Jo – I love how your worded that and I could feel the moment with you as the rain came….
And side note – I am
Sick and tired of how much we have had – not complaining because it “could be way worse” but the remnants of Hurricane Sally just stopped and I sat outside in some sunshine for the first time all week. Whew – a little vitamin D making and felt so good

    1. Hi – MOHS can be fun to collect and oh my goodness – not all are created equally- and this rooster one kind of sucks for the ceramic but has a fun handle and was from my son so it means a lot

  2. What a lovely mug, Yvette. And I didn’t know that Stash made an English Breakfast. I’ll have to try it. My sister got me hooked on their Chai Tea. It’s my go-to when I’m bored with everything else. And I’ve never tried bleach on mushrooms. What a good idea! Thanks. ~Terri

    1. Hi Terri,
Stash has a “Paris Black tea” you might want to try also – it has lavender in it. They also used to have “Christians Morning” but not sure they have it anymore – I really like this brand – “Tazo Awake” messes with my sleep so I cannot have that brand anymore – and I think they still Use staples (no bueno)

And with the splash of bleach to rid the shrooms – I know some folks who do not like bleach and they use “calcium hypochlorite” in a weak water base (basically pool shock) and they argue is is much better –
      Thanks for chiming in 😉

    1. Hi! Yes it is the experience – and I had an undefeated yea party with an eight year old girl last month – while swimming – so fun!
Thanks for the visit and cheers to you for investing in the young ones with your time and love!

  4. That is quite the mug Yvette – the rather ornate handle and the colorful picture. That is something I would have bought my mother too … my mother loved waterfowl and the house is done in early American/country and so there are many roosters, chickens and ducks — also many geese, both the Canada variety and the white geese with calico bonnets. I am a coffee drinker so will have a mug of coffee please. My mother was a tea drinker because of her endless heartburn. My grandmother drank tea and started me on a bone china teacup collection and I’m going to write about that next year for grandparents day – I’ve never acquired a taste for tea and often buy green tea as it’s good for you and somehow my mouth rebels and asks for coffee instead. 🙂

    1. Hi Linda – sorry for the late reply –
      Coffee for you 😉
And some people just are not meant for the so I fully understand your preference for coffee 😊🍮

      1. I want to like green tea Yvette … really I do. I buy the bags, then just look at it and can’t get it down … I have to try harder as I know green tea is good for you.

  5. Thank you for the tea! In fact, it is still Sunday morning here and I’ve had both coffee and tea today. I made coffee for me early this morning, and then I made a ‘get better fast ginger tea’ to my daughter. Naturally I had to taste the ginger tea as well. I hope your weekend is great so far. Your mug is absolutely gorgeous. I like having mugs with a special meaning. I sometimes showcase them in my Weekend Coffee Shares. I enjoy getting mugs, hats, and t-shirts as memory keepsakes when I go on an adventure somewhere. They kind of bring back a smile every time you see them. I’ve been wearing a hat from Death Valley many, many days this past years, thinking back of great adventures as I have not been on many adventures lately (like most other people.) Have a great rest of you weekend, and new week ahead.

    1. Hi Dawn – thanks for noticing – that is a nice Starbucks mug that has a tall
Slender shape (have a few other sizes because they make a darn good cup most of the time)

  6. Hi Yvette, I’m getting caught up with your blog, and stealing some of you pictures that I like for your post. I’m taking some from different challenges. I didn’t know that Trent hosted one. This was a great response. Your mug picture is definitely a favorite. One question, you are not hosting this challenge, but are inviting people to put their pingbacks here too? Cool! Have a great day. 🙂 TTYS

    1. Hi- – sorry I am late to this comment –
But it worked out well with the pictures you used and thanks so much again for being so nice e to work with ;on your blog challenge post.

And I was not inviting folks to pingback to my blog – it was an invite to Su’s log or Trent’s -and I need to double check to make sure I made it clear
Thanks for the visit and connect again soon
      😊💕
