Friday Food (Biscotti and photos for Round Theme)

Easy Biscotti

4 cups of flour

2 tsp baking soda

1 cup of sugar

1 cup of grape seed oil (or vegetable oil – do not use butter they will crumble)

4 large eggs

2 tsp of almond oil (or vanilla)

1 1/2 cups of sliced almonds

Topping can be melted chocolate, frosting, nut cream, etc.

Preheat over to 350

mix flour and baking soda and set aside

Mix oil, sugar, eggs and almond oil (use a wooden spoon because tradition says it mixes with more flavor this way)

Slowly add the flour mix until dough is formed.

Roll into logs and bake (at 350) until halfway or a little done.

Cut into slices and bake some more – (maybe use a cooling grill to get them even toastier0

Let cool and add toppings.

They do not have preservatives to freeze after a few days.

It’s time for a Triple Shot Friday.

And while I cannot do every challenge that I would like to, this post connects to the Round and Shiny themes that are rolling around and lighting up the blogosphere this week.

1. Asian Pin:

This was little gem was in the art bin and I gave it to my favorite nurse practitioner, Joan M.

2. Round nougat cookies on a shiny plate.

This used to be one of my step-daughter’s favorite cookies, made my Archway.

My son is grabbing one of the Archway nougat cookies – and this was not staged, he saw me snapping the photo and reached in – but was joking – and I went with it…

3. Mango, biscuits, and apple tart:

Have a thrice as nice Friday.

Okay, that was cheesy, but it is triple shot Friday, so hey….

  3. I love that apple tart, I could have that for breakfast right? Thanks for visiting my blog the other day. I haven’t been around much because I started a new job that is unrelated to photography and that has taken up a lot of my mental energy. Anyway, hope all is well with you and have a nice weekend!

    1. thanks Amy – and I actually had red wine in that last photo – 3 different down views with shiny and round – but then I got up – went into the dashboard and took it out – in honor of my sober friends that read. And I know they would have been fine – but it was the principle. 🙂

    1. Hey restless one – well – like you – I have determined that I will never be able to do each challenge each week – although the Monday walk one is high on my list! 🙂

but the triple shot friday is actually something I was inspired by from Andrea ( http://igardendaily.com) and well, I like to do it when I can only because I like the “3” theme for posts sometimes.

Happy Easter to you – 🙂

  5. The Asian Pin is classic – looks like one of those valuables waiting to be auctioned. The pic where your son is grabbing a cookie has come out well considering it wasn’t staged 🙂

    1. Hi Mahesh – and believe it or not the pin was “new” – it had the date of 2007 on it. and he would stage it for me if I had asked, he is cool with stuff like that – but in this case it happened naturally….
      have a great weekend….
