  1. Yvette I love the variety in your posts. Photofunia looks like a hoot! I cracked up at Santa’s 6 billion friends. Hilarious. My favorite photo is the pomegranate and apples. Beautiful image.

        WHEN I heard the learn’d astronomer-
        by Walt Whitman

        WHEN I heard the learn’d astronomer;
        When the proofs, the figures, were ranged in columns before me;
        When I was shown the charts and the diagrams, to add, divide, and measure them;
        When I, sitting, heard the astronomer, where he lectured with much applause in the lecture-room,
        How soon, unaccountable, I became tired and sick;
        Till rising and gliding out, I wander’d off by myself,
        In the mystical moist night-air, and from time to time,
        Look’d up in perfect silence at the stars.

  3. What a fun treat this post is! But, then, all of your posts are fun! I love this variety. The foods look yummy and you’ve got some interesting info included. I didn’t eat green bananas (besides not being crazy for the taste), I always thought they were hard to digest. Now I know they can be good for me. Go figure! Love the one about the dog and the stimulus package. If only! I’d be on easy street with all my animals! I’ll be checking out Photofunia! Thanks! 😀

    1. thanks Linda – love you for that) and some r not so fun – I had some one email me about “Christmas is NOT the most wonderful time of the year” point that I made – and so I just shared that in my opinion, sometimes the ones this is the kind of holiday that can not only get overdone – but leads to a big drop later if not careful -(like top jumping – or some live in the cycle of “peak highs and then valley lows”) (not quite the same as bipolar -lol)

      But for some folks, well for certain holidays they have to go all out and if you look bit closer – there may be other things that need to be addressed (and that is just from decades of observing folks and living through this holiday) –
      Now sometimes it is okay to be humming along and a needed holiday is refreshing – that can be natural – and it is partly why we create (or modify) holidays and start new traditions- cos it is just nice to break up the routine up – and nice to remember- and nice to come together and party, etc. – but I still stand by my point that this is such a “mixed” holiday that leaves much to be desired.

      anyhow, back to your sweet comment – I added the Marmaduke cartoon here just for you – cos your recent dog post still brings a smile. And same here, I always put the slightly green ones to the side, but this week we tried them (still not sure I can eat when they are super green – but slightly, well yeah) 🙂

      also- if you have not tried it yet – go to photofunia or makeagif and modify some pics – it’s a blast! 🙂

      1. I do have to agree with you about all of the mixed emotions of certain holidays. It can be tough at times and I’m not immune, especially at Christmas. I still do wish everyone a very Merry Christmas! So now on that note, since I don’t have a green banana or any banana for that matter at the moment, I’m going to go have a green pear and get ready for photofunia! Hugs! 😀

  4. Calvin and Hobbs. The best! Santa on FB. Funny. Better him than me. I heard Jesus has a FB page with a gazillion followers, but that he only follows one person. I never really checked but I wonder who that one person could be. (And I wonder if that’s sacrilegious.)
    Fun post, Yvette.

  8. Fun, fun, fun Y it made me smile, as for green bananas they leave my teeth feeling all furry, even though they are good for us I think I will still ripen mine, and they ripen over night in our heat…
    BTW how do you put photos in comments and replies?

    Like

    1. well I agree – the “really” green ones I let sit – but we tried them with 15% green still left – not too bad! 🙂
      and to insert the photo into a comment –

      upload it to your media library.
      After it uploads – click on “edit more details”
      that will open a new small box to the right and you want the “file URL”

      has to be file URL and not URL

      highlight and copy that – and then you can insert it into comments across wp.
      I have not figured out how to adjust the size –
      and so to get a small version to insert, I just upload a thumbnail size – or just insert it as-is.

      and by the way, I have a photofunia image coming for you – too – just messin’ ’round with it… 🙂

  12. Hey there, these are some great photos, especially the first few. I am officially jealous that you can get pomegranate. Not me. Nope. Not here in Brazil. We get tons of bananas though. I’ll have to remember that bit of information about the green bananas being good for digestion.
    Merry Christmas Prior.

    1. oh I am so sorry you do not get pomegranates – and they have really come down in price around here – whereas they used to be super high – sometimes they are sale for under 2 bucks – oh – and just a side note – but they had a sale on some large ones recently and when we came home I found a leftover one in the drawer from last month – and we were comparing them p so I grabbed this shot:

      1. Wow, that is huge. Lucky duck you. I took a comparison photo once of two mangos. My mother-in-law gave me this super huge mango. Like it was crazy huge. Maybe like one of those sugar watermelons. At any rate, it was about 4 times the size of a regular Tommy mango.
