Thursday Special has the theme of Nocturnal this week (here)- and here is my official entry. A metal art hummingbird keeping watch at night. Can you see the Rose of Sharon bloom in lower right?
Also, because it time for some Thursday Doors, let’s start with a nocturnal door:
Now, it is time to share some leftover doors from Summer 2016.
Here is a gallery of the doors I am featuring this week (I have also added the photos below just in case you cannot see the slide show):

Here are the images again: Click to see the larger version.
Hope you have nice day.
Is there a door here that you like the most?
Or do you find it silly to look at photos of mere doors?
I know it is not everyone’s cup of tea…but sometimes a door photo can grab a mood or capture a vibe of the current culture – and I guess that is why I like taking pictures of doors.

I love that humming bird!
And I also like your psycho ward – actually, I liked the light of that black and whit shot and found it rather welcoming. But maybe that says something about my mental state!!
Hey Andy! I know – and I was surprised by that car because I had no idea Jaguars were that luxurious again – in the early to mid 2000s they had this body style that seemed like maybe the designers acidemtalky merged the Ford Fusion blueprints with the Jaguar – and we just saw a 2003 bag for sale for a couple grand (near the yellow Beetle) and it was junk! So when this car came driving up – I actually thought it was going to be a BMW – but it was a jaguar !
And side bite on the investment – I think many folks “lease” these pricey rides these days – and so for a minimum amount they rent –
But I prefer used – for price – for lower insurance – and also peace of mind – like not worried if it gets scratched or dinged 😊☀️ Ya know ?
Ya, I absolutely know what you mean 🙂 I’d never be able to even afford a finance or lease on these though! geez, especially not up here in Canada these days 😀
Yes – I am not sure Canada prices – but during the football game the other night (go Broncos) they had the usual cat commercials and the sub for BMW (X1) was starting a lease at 269 a month – that sounded crazy low – and another one ( a car) was 500 – but I wonder if that is not always what most can get when they walk in….
Either way – I prefer older – ha!
I love the design of the “O” building! All the other pictures are wonderfully uplifting (apart from the sad story of Dylan and Eric – may they rest in peace) xxxx
Well I know you hand select your photos as you travel – and bad fish – I think of when you said some of us take door photos in context – sometimes I think of that when I grab a context shot!
Hmmm. You know, I don’t actually “select” my shots when traveling. I see a shot and know it’s a shot, and snap that thing is all! Many, many of those things are doors. And windows. And mountains.
Oooo Yvette, I love crape myrtle trees, too. Your doors are fabulous. I just love all the brick on the east coast. We don’t have too much of that here it the west in earthquake country. The bricks and the trees are two of the things I enjoy the most when I travel east. Have a great weekend. 🙂
Thanks for your nice comment – 😉 and I like the redwoods and other trees when I visit west – and as much as I am east coast all the way – feel like the Pacific Ocean has better beach life and vibe – all the way! 💙
I enjoyed the doors…a favorite??? I like the Tobacco Company door, and since I am from the Philly area, liked the thought of a Charles Barkley double. I also thought the hummingbird was a good challenge entry for nocturnal, and yes, I can make out the Rose of Sharon. Enjoyed your post! 🙂
Thanks so much my friend – and go Philly! I have a photo of our young chef Charles Barkley lookalike – I will share it sometime later (and will drop by and let u know) oh and I reblogged your sweet “9-11 remembrance” post – but I did not realize it went to “everything Richmond” blog – meant to do
It here – but it was perfect 😉
Love your collection of doors! The psycho ward door — is that a University or hospital? LOL I love brick buildings and brick houses. So, I would imagine I’d really like Richmond! 😀
I love those interior shots. Nice selection of doors. Sorry to hear about the sad loss of those two young men, it was nice that you remembered them in your post.
Thanks so much for your sweet reply Jean 🙂 – and I thought about doing a quick post on the two boys later – and might still do that – anyhow, I hope you have a great weekend
I often think I should do this door thing. I love how you share the ordinary as well as the ornate and unusual, reflecting your environment. Doors are the entry point into mini worlds. Doors close us inside and can keep others out. Doors are security. I don’t think it silly to look at photos of doors! No doubt, I will feel silly taking photos of them though. 🙂
I like how you. Wrote about doors! Very rich comment – and C- you really have to try and grab a few door photos – and then decide if it is for you! Maybe challenge yourself to take 4 or 5 – just to see?
And what I like about Norm’s round up (#thursdaydoors) is how each person brings their flair to a door post. We sometimes get history (ok – a lot) – and sometimes quirky – glitzy- or moody patina – -anyhow – thanks for the comment and again – you really should snap a few door pics and then assess again….
When I’ve thought about doing it, I’ve had the yen to do a historical posting, but seeing your more everyday doors made me see there is a need for them, too. It shows us the sameness of our worlds. I will give it a go. I might begin at one end of town and work my way home. 🙂 LOL Thank you for your encouragement, Y.!
well and you know that bricks remind me of you Miss G – and actually – I think that is what drove me to yo9ur blog recently – had to see what was up in Berlin 🙂
“Ruffled feathers and endless squawking over a minor difficulty is typical of a crow’s life. I lean back on the counter and realize that could be my line….”
I love that humming bird!
