      Still not sure – and it is only a back screen door we need – we have blown through two screen doors in 12 years – but part of the challenge is we want it lightweight yet heavy enough to close – and a little decorative – hm.

  2. Hmm, I hope things go well. Buying a new door does not sound well. It is funny. I am also listening a song that includes door in the lyrics … “A slamming door and a lesson learned I let another lover crash and burn.” – Crash and Burn by Thomas Rhett. You know I like one of his song before. Please have a nice day and get the door you like.

    1. Hi YC – thanks for mentioning the song – going to listen later and be back with feedback (woo hoo) and I think of you when hat song comes on – it still has radio air play and I hear it when driving sometimes -;) 🎶🎶🎶🎶
      And thankfully we only need a screen door – but if we did get a new front door we would likely keep it simple as to not stand out too much in neighborhood – we like some originality with garden stuff – but in a neighborhood we also like some uniformity – if hat makes sense.

      and did you know Thomas Rhett sang on ABC on New year’s Eve?
      he did a mix of his songs and then a good portion of Die a Happy Man….

          And I guess his microphone and feedback earpiece was working just fine (as opposed to Mariah Carey who had mic issues)

  3. To date I have never bought/replaced a front door, but I’m not looking forward to it when I do. So many choices I think I’ll agonize over it for weeks before deciding 😉

    1. Haha! You are funny!
      And you know – lucky duck to not have to have replaced doors.
      I took for granted the many iron storm doors (one was tri-paneled) that we had in Denver – and even at other homes – and we have gone through two screen doors on our back door- and they were not completely low end – but some of this imported stuff is junk. Third time hopefully will give us something that lasts back there – without being too heavy – if that makes sense –

  4. We replaced out front door in 2007. It was a far easier choice than I imagined it would be. Size, material, style narrows it down pretty fast. Good luck. Storm doors are just awful. We have had to replace so many that are, as you say, junk. Ironically, the least expensive, stamped aluminum door on our porch, has lasted the longest. All the other ones are stuffed with some composite material and, since they all eventually leak, the stuff swells and either bends the skin of the door or causes it not to close.

    1. Oh thanks Dan – that reply was good to read and explains why they dissipate like that – ?
      We are deciding by next week and I really like the first one we had – it was white and light with a little decorative trim – still sturdy – but perfect weight for the dogs to nose it open – which (woof) matters. I hate the doggie doors on screen doors….

  5. We talk about buying a new front door, painting the front door? What design? What color?
    For now we procrastinate!!
    As for a back door? Oh my….we have dogs that have minimal respect for property…

    1. Hi – and thanks. And I can see how procrastinating plays a part – esp for a front door…
      And smiling at all our dogs that have minimal respect – woof – of r first screen back door was perfect for the dogs and for kids running in and out – but they don’t make it anymore and the replacement one was never right – too heavy and looked all nice but quality was masked with decor – hoping third one is closer to the first – 😉

  7. I’m actually in the market for a new door – a back door to my garage to be exact. As usual, Husband and I haven’t been on the same page so decision-making has been punted out to the spring.
    As Norm said, picking one isn’t easy!!

    1. Hi – well thanks – and my other otoi n for this week’s Thursday doors came from a restaurant where we frequent – I have a photo with accordion doors and three others in the frame – but have not had any time to really see if the photos came out! Still catching up a bit….

    1. build it yourself? I think of you as the traveler, business man, and healthy eater (avacado) -but did not know you had that craftman side too – not bad for Chip’s cafe….

      1. Well…to clarify: wanting and doing are two different things. I’m no builder. But my mind can design things. The quality of my building things needs a bit of help.
