Just Coconut Chunks (Trader Joe’s)

Hello readers – Trader Joe’s has a lot of new items every season – and their latest “Coconut Chunks” are worth blogging about in a Friday Food post.

Great snack – and one serving of 7 pieces has little sugar, lots of chew, and great taste (also some fiber, oil, and nutrients).

Lastly, I saw this sign the other day and it kind of inspired me. In many life areas we might need to take breaks (pause, heal, recharge, refresh, etc.) but let’s not forget that sometimes we have to hustle and “work for it.”

    1. can you grab me some of their seaweed snacks?

      ha – kidding
but please let me know what you think.
We had them in a smooth (not for me) but as a plain snack (chilled) I really enjoyed them.

      Please keep me posted.
      🙂

      1. Our Trader Joe’s doesn’t sell coconut chunks ;-( Oh well… I’ll get it when I am going to Virginia.
Seaweed snacks — I bought some from Costco. They are good.
        Good night.

        1. I could use some seaweed snacks right now – mmm – sound so good.
and when you do find the chunks – you might not like them as much as i did.
I realized that i might have liked them a little extra because I hardly have anything sweet.
So they might have tasted sweeter to me – does that make sense.
but I do suggest freezing them and after having them at room temp and cold – I like them from the freezer and half-thawed….
and per other comment suggestions – might make a little chocolate mix to top them with –
anyhow, have a great night (or morning if you are reading then…)
          🙂

  1. Coconuts are hard work – first break it open, to dig out the meat and then chew on it 😀 But yet they are popular over here. I’ve changed the quote a bit and it’s now ‘Walk for it’ 🙂 Have a great weekend

      1. Now that explains a lot. The Germans don’t seem to put up with unnecessary additives. I bought some loose nettle tea from Germany over the internet. It’s absolutely fabulous quality. Likewise the dandelion coffee they produce.

        1. Well I need to ask more about that nettle tea. It is something I want to add to my body more.
and I have heard of dandelion coffee before (maybe from you and want more info) .
The Germans also have seem to have a business model that works for the consumer and the company profit. which is win-win…

        2. Dandelion coffee (roast root) is supposed to be the best thing for a liver cleanse. I don’t care for the processed granules as it often has lactose added. Nettles are a natural antihistamine, and a good all round mineral tonic. Good in menopause for flooding, or for any blood loss for that matter. Lowers blood pressure and strong diuretic. Soothing for cystitis. Powerful blood cleanser and good for eczema and acne. A warrior herb! Nettle info from Herbal Therapy for Women by Elisabeth Brooke MNIMH. Half an ounce of dried herb to one pint of boiling water 🙂

        3. oh many thanks for taking the time to share that.
When i find my little tidbit about nettle I will come back and share it.
but really appreciate the details and maybe your sharing it here can help others who stumble upon this.
You do not have to answer now – but I was wondering if Dandelion coffee is good for everyday or only for cleansing.
last month I had a student bring my loose leaf tea (she had a bunch from some course she took and it was in her freezer and she wanted to pass some on – and shared with a lot of us) and she had no idea but one of my very favorite gifts to get is anything tea.
          Especially in winter.
she also had whole anise stars and I will share a photo.
so funny how the little things mean a lot at times – and the licorice tea she shared – every cup was like an indulgence because I had not have that in a long time

        4. You can drink dandelion coffee as an alternative drink to real coffee. I grind the roasted root bits and make it in a cafetiere. A sprinkle of raw cacao powder doesn’t go amiss either 🙂 I’ll try and find the particular products I buy and give you the link. They either came from amazon or ebay.

        5. mmm = and actually in the winter I feel like I have hot bevs on and off throughout the days and sometimes have a cup or two of hot water….

        6. thanks for saying that – a long time ago on my blog – like 2013 to 2014 – I actually had someone kind snicker at the hot water comment – but I especially go for this when chatting it up with folks and simply cannot have another cuppa – I mean cup of tea…

and Tish – thanks for the comment exchanging this week – it felt nice to chit chat a bit

  2. Do you mean they put some sugar in those coconut chunks when you mentioned low sugar?
I think ever thing in life you need to work for it or hardly any thing comes without any efforts.

    1. Hi YC – no – nothing added – the sugar content is from the coconut meat itself (and doesn’t meat make it sound different?) ha

and yes, effort effort effort – and then reward
      🙂

    1. well I have never seen art supplies there – but if you are into using natural things as dyes – you will not be disappointed – so many natural products for greens, blues, yellows, etc.
ha – like the native way of getting colors….
