Two for Tuesday – Gas Station Street Shots (and A to Z Reveal)

Hello readers,

I have decided to take the plunge and do the April A to Z.

My reveal: my category is health and my themes will address everyday wellness and thoughts on blogging.

If you want to join in this year – go HERE to “sign up”

If you want to know more about this challenge – go HERE to “read up”

And seeing that it is Tuesday – let’s have some Two-fers (Two for Tuesday), which are inspired by the other night when I was too lazy to “fill up”

The “B” was me the other night -it was late and I called my hubs and let him know he might need to rescue me because I was going to try to make it home on fumes (worked out well). It was not too late to get gas, it was just late and cold and was feeling lazy (or not like getting gas in the cold) and so I did a lot of calculating -If I… “drive 55 (not 65) – don’t force uphill ramps” and “how low is low – like is it all the way on red or near the red, which means it might fluctuate…” ha!

Yesterday’s yoga post was one of my favorite’s ever. Really fun how the comments unfolded and I had the time, I would take all the comments and make a cohesive post with them (maybe some other time) but in the meantime I think there are some excellent tidbits to chew on from the comments left and so many thanks to those who chimed in.

And while on the topic of gas – from the comics above – did you know that sometimes I have used a gas station analogy when I talk about the pros of doing a well-rounded “basic” yoga class (one that stretches the whole body, gives some balancing poses, touch of vinyasa flow, and a nice corpse pose) – well it is like going to the gas station to “fill up” where we put something fresh inside from the self-care with yoga.  However, it is also a letting go and releasing where we maybe clean out the trunk and the back seat and then drive off with that full tank. Something like that.  🙂

Okay – let’s close with two “street shots” with gas stations in them:

Pennsylvania 2016

    1. I replied to this but it did not appear – why? no idear!

anyhow, you guys are reversed from us – 🙂
but I think the type A’s have less stress (as Sue noted – low gas and running on fumes can at times bring stress)

  1. My Ex used to get home on “fumes” often, then take my car so I had to use the fuel at home to get to town. When you are 35kms from the servo it used to make me fume

    1. ha – yeah – that would make me fume too – nice play on words!
and shhhh – but I do that around here too – take the car that is full if I make it home on fumes.
but thankfully we are not 35kms like you are…
and I am proud to say I have only ran out of gas once in my life.
summer 1991 and it was a car I had just bought and we were on Highway 50 in Florida and the car actually had two tanks – so I literally only had it a week and not sure what happened – but ran out – with my mom and aunt – and thankfully someone helped and it was not a bad experience.

  2. Good luck with the A to Z challenge, I’m looking forward to reading this year’s posts 😉 . And I really enjoyed the comics, especially, the “I’m not kidding, it’s cheaper” one. 🙂

    1. Hi anna!
thanks for the encouragement – I really appreciate it and I was hesitant to commit – which is why my reveal is a day late – but now I am feeling 100%
and that Chanel no 5 one cracked me up because I have a bottle of it –
it is so old and I cannot stand the smell. It might make a good gas supplement – kidding –
Do you like the smell of it?

      1. I really don’t like it, it doesn’t suit me at all. I love a couple of other Chanel fragrances, but not that one. Someone offered it to me as a birthday gift a long time ago and I tried to give it a chance, but it just wasn’t for me. I felt terrible throwing it out and nobody I knew wanted it, so I kept it for a few years, until there was no more room in my life for that person or their gifts.

      2. I do not like very much Chanel stuff – and can see why you ended up tossing yours.
the connection of the giver – but also – do not think it was a gift to offer – lol
although I do recall being at a yard sale in CA and this gorup of ladies asked the homeowner if they had any perfume/parfum/colognes they wanted to sell.
I chatted with them and they said that a lot of folks go in and bring them stuff out for them – and well they were quite the little scavengers and good idea – ha – for them at least

and I recall this part of coming to womanhood where someone says try, “Little black dress, diamond earrings, red lipstick, and Chanel no. 5″
        NO, no, no, no!
For me it is four no’s
        maybe instead
Longer black dress, dangling gold earrings (not too showy), tinted lip balm (lol), and Safari” ha
        et tu?

      3. I could have certainly done without the Chanel No 5 😉 The “little” part of the black dress is a subjective matter though, people perceive it differently. I must admit, I rocked many very different lengths of the LBD over the years, so I’m trying not to judge 😉 I like to think there’s a time and a place for everything and also an appropriate way to accesorize. So as long as one can differentiate between the black dress to be worn in a club, the one for a job interview or the one for a funeral, all is good. The same goes for the red lipstick – a time and a place…. and the right shade for one’s complection. As for the diamonds… no comment…

      4. Ahhhhhh
        So fun to read that!
Thx for not judGing and same here – oh what was a I thinking sometimes – but we live and learn!
        Curious about the diamonds!!
And so true about the LBD
And with lipstick – the shade of teeth also matters – red can make really white teeth look good but not all teeth…

  3. Hooray! I’m glad you are doing the A-Z chállenge! Based on health! Here’s some ideas to help you… A for Apple, B for Banana, C for Carrot, D for Donuts…….
And I love your fuel cartoons, they made me smile!

    1. Hi – thanks so much – and it is funny that you offered this tip:

      A for Apple, B for Banana, C for Carrot, D for Donuts…….

and I will add that little snippet into a post – 🙂

anyhow, I actually have some “deeper” health topics I have been wanting to write about for years now!!! (in my spare time I study various health topics and I also healed my body after needing some immune system repair in 2014) – and so I have been meaning to post about some health discoveries for a long time now – like allopathic errors and how health care has tried to dumb people down in caring for their own health – lack of empowerment – and then maybe even the dangers and lies of some info being posited – like the new documentary called “what the health” is a crock of crap.

but maybe I will just post lightly about topics – for example – I already know that for “T” I am going to talk about the thyroid and bring in some research thoughts and a few htiungs I have learned (like most folks don’t know that the thyroid being stressed is usually a sign of a heavy-burdened immune system and also in comes areas (greta lakes regions in US) some thyroid issues have been found to related to fluke (small flat worm) in the body).
      so stuff like that –
      – but here is the thing, Georgie, I do not want to make it too laborious. Only want to spend “so much time on blogging” in April because after an easy March I have a full plate (full schedule) next month and so we shall see – but thanks for the comment and fun suggestion…

I also want to have posts offer a fun photo or something light like that for those who do not want to read about my take on health topics today

      xxooo

      1. Esso (and Humble) were part of Standard Oil before it was broken up. I’m not sure why, but those two became Exxon and then later merged with Mobil.

        Wife = A – Daughter = B – I am in between, but I lean toward B.

      2. ahh – thanks for the 411 on the gas stations – and the PA WaWas are my fav and the day they came to our local area was a happy day for our entire family. (least fav – Citgo)
        __
and thanks for having your fam chime in on votes – how fun!!!!

I am going to mark yours as B – cool?

  4. I am the kind that will see two blocks of gas and go okay it’s time to fill up, so grudgingly i pump the gas and start to wonder if i should of used the last two before doing it lol!

  5. I’m definitely an A. I drove the 100 miles or so to see my mum once on a rapidly emptying tank, late on a Friday night, through pretty empty, very hilly countryside. I think it aged me about 10years.

  6. The gas station analogy is interesting, and you’re right. That bit of fuel should do until it’s time to refuel again – the constant here is consistency – and the engine, human or machine, will move again.

  7. Love the cartoons Y 😀 And I see you are determined to make me healthy! I have started walking but I need to restart yoga too, so may be by the end of April I would do that too 🙂 All the best for the challenge, I’ll be rooting for you from the sidelines 🙂
