Joining Nancy Merrill’s A Photo a Week Challenge (here). The word is delicate this week.
Here are my images:
DELICATE VIBE. I was actually taking a picture of the scaffolding on the building outside to the left – and then this “delicate scene” was in my view. I like the mood. Do you? This was at an art museum earlier this month. I feel there is something special about this capture: the lines (ceiling, glass, chair curves, ground) and the way the outside contrasts with the inside – the lady down below and the two gals to the right – the rectangle shapes on the ground (left) in sync with the rectangle shape of the rug (right) – and the shadows, etc. (hmmmm…).
Right across from the two chairs (in the above image) is a beautiful portrait of Mrs. Derby (1888).
DELICATE dress, DELICATE smile (This portrait took 18 sittings for Sargent to complete)
This post reminded me of this funny “fashion citation” checklist I saw a while back – made me laugh and I wanted to show Ana – so here it is:
that was cool to see what you pointed us (and this is why we need others – we see much more together)
and glad you are okay on the fashion citations.
no tickets for you right now
The first is a beautiful image, Yvette. It pulled me in. And then I had to smile at ‘dressing in the dark’. It’s an expression my husband sometimes uses. Happy Monday to you 🙂 🙂
Haha 😀 I think I’ll add “wardrobe malfunctions when getting in/out of the car” to the list, even if it’s not exactly a dressing in the dark infraction. 🙂 Thanks for the smile, Y. And the “socks and sandals” reminded me of my grandfather. Up to a point, he was very careful about what he wore and hated casual clothes. He found shorts offensive, so he only wore them on the beach in the summer, with sandals and socks. 🙂 We all made fun of him, but he stuck to his fashion style.
Ha – I should have asked readers if they had any tips to add!!
and I like the “wardrobe malfunctions when getting in/out of the car”
so true –
also – I do not always mind the socks and sandals – if done right.
socks and flip flops are another story – although I wore that look leaving yoga once – and well….
I saw that empty space at the end of the list so I thought I’d add a little something 🙂
True enough, there are some trendy ways to wear sandals and socks these days, and some people can make it look so cool. But somehow I don’t think I could be one of them. 😀 And socks and sandals…. hmmm… intriguing…. who knows, perhaps you’re part of the fashion avant-garde and don’t even know it, Y. 🙂
Love the lines, curves and shadows in your lovely photograph. I can see why Sargent would be a popular artist. It’s a beautiful portrait. Thanks for the tips and I’m not going to admit to any fashion faux pas! 😆
Oh c’mon – no time for fashion citations. These are the people who provide something interesting for others to look at. Life would be boring if we all dressed the same 😉
Okay – so maybe we can issue warnings first – take some pics and give them a chance – ha ha (kidding and you are right – it would be boring if all the same )
I actually like the lady wearing hat appears to be talking with the young girl looking out the glass window. They were conversing something. That is interesting and just sparked my curiosity to lean what they were doing. I stared at the part for a little while. That is nice!
thanks for the comment and because of your comment – I just added the other two takes of this image to an upcoming Two for Tuesday post – and here is a sneak peek at it:
Haha! I love that lil citation chart! I can honestly say I went out today in high-waisted pants and a good inch of cleavage. Got tons of compliments, too. LOL Shame on me!
I had that Sargent painting on a bookmark. For a while I was super into art bookmarks. The Kiss and a few others…
All safe on the fashion citation thank goodness 🙂
Also the lines from the rug across the pavement up the lines of the scaffolding
