THE #LENS-ARTISTS THEME THIS WEEK IS WEATHERED & WORN (here)

WE WENT FOR A NICE SPRING WALK ON SATURDAY.

THE HUBS WAS UNPLUGGED (DOING A DIGITAL DETOX) –

BUT I WAS DIGITALLY CONNECTED – AND SO I GRABBED SOME PHOTOGRAPHS. 

AND TO CONNECT WITH THE WEATHERED AND WORN THEME, YOU KNOW I HAVE BRICKS. I ALSO HAVE SOME METAL ART AND GARDEN SHOTS. 

SO LET’S GET TO IT (10 photos and 1 Song):

7) LOOKING UP I SAW PAINTED BRICKS AND A WORN OUT PINK LAMB – JUST HANGING OUT AT THE WHISKEY GRILL. THIS MAKES ME LAUGH EVERY TIME I SEE IT

8) ALSO LOOKING UP, I SAW THIS POLE WITH WORN OUT STAPLES – RIGHT NEXT TO A WELL-RESTED TREE NOW IN BLOOM (NICE CONTRAST)
9) THIS WORN OUT METAL GLIDER (TO JOIN IN WITH PULL UP A SEAT) DOES NOT LOOK TOO COMFY. BUT I LIKE THE (RED/CORAL?) COLORS OF THE SEATS/DOORS WITH THE TEAL BRICKS. DO YOU?

10)CLOSING PHOTO –  PRETTY PATINA IN THE METAL ART (ISN’T SHE A NICE GARDEN GUARDIAN?)

    1. Thanks Derrick – and if I only shared one image it would have been that one – and i tried to limit it to five photos – but I really felt like these “ten” made a set – and it is personal for what I take away from the walk that day – anyhow, wishing you a nice day

  2. Some great variety! Love the way you are NOT worn down… The combo of trunk with staples and a tree in flower – a fine juxtaposition. I also think I will get a Bee Happy sign for my garden – thanks for the good idea!

    1. Thanks!! That is my second favorite picture here – but I almost left her out of the post when I was trying to have mostly bricks (but there are bricks in the back – ha)

  6. I love the feel of coolness of the time you walked (was it the morning or late afternoon/early evening?). Light was still soft and cool, I like it.
    It is a morning as I am writing here, these pictures resonate well with me.

    I am not sure I hate or like painted bricks. I would say it depends on how well they are painted i.e. color choice, solid paint or pattern / picture (murals) etc. You know what I mean. For the one in the first picture, hmm. I would say that it is not quite on my list 😦 – partly painted with black. That does not seem like a real intention to paint or it sort of half work.

    For the rest of the pictures that have bricks, those are good. I like them including the one with seems to have well painted black with the door – #7.

    The pole with worn out staples raises some sort of phobia in me (I think I have some sort of phobia for the object like this or have holes in strange pattern). That picture made me tense up at first sight.

    1. Hi YC – thanks for the feedback here. And how well they are painted does matter – but it still feels kind of wrong. Brick has such natural beauty…
      and that first photo is part of an old sign _ I will share the other picture I have of this – it is a salon now (be back with it shortly)
      and interesting that the phobia was tapped with the staples picture – I can see why because there are so many of them and they are rusty.

      and when we took the walk – it was evening – just around 7 p.m. – got cooler as the hour went on.. but pleasant (thanks for asking) and was glad to be able to take some pics

  7. Loved your pictures. When I see worn street art I try to make another shape from the wear. When you posted the full picture, it was easy. A skeletal head – you can just see the top of the rounded head but a good view of the eyes, nose and mouth. And purple is always a great color to have in your garden and you should always try to be happy. You obviously were happy as you played with your own shadow art, fun times. Sorry but i disagree that that word can express anything but poor use of the dictionary. With you staples picture my eyes were pulled more to the blossoms. So ready for spring and you must be in a warmer climate as we are not seeing that yet in the midwest. The glider is awesome. My grandmother had a green one. I can still hear it squeak as you would glide in it. And I do enjoy quirky and cute metal art. That was a wonderful walk you had, thanks for sharing.

      And I can imagine the sound of your grandmother’s glider – and there was something sweet about seeing this glider still in use. Sometimes worn is great and we don’t always need the latest updates patio set. As long as it is safe – right? And this one looks sturdy.

  8. I enjoyed the photo with the shadows and the one with the staples. The glider shot is a good one, too. I share lots of weathered doors in my Thursday Doors posts, mostly from my time in France, where many things seem to be weathered. But then many structures have been around much longer than those here, hence a longer time to weather. 🙂

  12. A great gallery of the old and disused. I enjoy Bob Seger although I thought it was Seeger. No one else has commented on the music. I always wonder if anyone bothers to listen

    1. Well you have mor experience with song sharing then I do.
      And I think sometimes they do and sometimes they don’t-
      I like how linda has shared her feedback w the songs in other posts – like the Sade Post insharwd twomsongs And she said she listened to one.
      But I would rather put it out there for one reader – and actually it is also for me.
      I add songs that I want to hear – if that makes sense.
      –
      Lastly – I don’t mind if folks don’t listen – cos they have YouTube, Spotify and iTunes (etc) to Jam with and so if they don’t listen –
      Ah -No worries
      And side note – that wish I was a punk rocker was so different –

  14. Love them all but the peek-a-boo through the fence is my favorite!

    I loved roller skating with all the kids back in the day. We were, like, 10 and 11, though, so mostly just speeding along to Toni Basil’s “Mickey” and other 80s hits.

  15. I like this kind of post because the photographer is sharing things that caught her eye and that’s exactly how I move through the world, some would say scattered, taking it all in, lil a this, lil a that, ooh, that’s neat, oh look at that.
    I’d LOVE to have one of those old metal gliders. My grandma had one and it’s more comfy than it looks. Plus, they don’t move a lot, so they don’t make me sick like swings.
    Love the kicked up shadows on the brick and the peek through the fence, and honestly, all those nails in the pole!

      It was a lil of that and this –
      And the polemwoth staples has had mixed reactions – I just noticed a third element in that photo – the porch behind it – maybe – but we have the wood of the pole for obviously hanging tons of flyers (is that what thebl staples are for or are they added for some type of circuit grounding?) then the mature tree for shade and beauty – and then the porch – wood used different – oh forget it – might be overthinking it now.
      Also – thanks for noticing the “perk” through – cos that is exactly what I did.
      And I will take your word for it that the glider rocks – I mean offers a nice sit – and a
      Nice little throw cover and might be good to go

  18. What I love about this post is the giddy feel that comes across – I guess walking on a nice Spring day has that effect and I think that’s very cool. There was a lot of humor here – I enjoyed that. I dig the staple pole. It has a minimalist art feel to me that I like quite a bit. And I’m watching the Disappearance of Madeleine McCann right now – so maybe it has a forgotten missing poster feel about it at the moment. I heart Turn the Page. It’s one of my faves. I mean it’s a great sound and I will be singing it in my head for the rest of the day – and NOT thinking it’s a bad thing. I distinctly remember listening to this when I was little and being struck by this artist telling me his dark, honest feelings. Maybe it was the first time I really listened to lyrics… I don’t know. But I thought it was pretty effective. And that feeling always hits me when I hear it. Perfect for the post. Thank you!

    1. Hi – I appreciate the encouragement on the song. I first had this song called Get Back Up by TobyMac and then I went with this one. But I actually think this post would have been better without any song. It is so minor and I am already moving into the next blog post – hah – but as you mentioned the giddy vibe – that is what I sense now (didn’t plan it and it just unfolded) but you know how the post for “history” had old with the new and the secondhand smoke song seemed to fit seamlessly – I think this one fit more in theory – like I was
      Going to show old bricks and some weathered items from this walk and Bob Segar’s song is about that worn out truck driving mode –
      But because the post did have that “giddy” vibe -with ten dense photos – well maybe no song needed ?
      And the funny part about that song being played for “couples skate” is that it might be slow but it is not a love song! Ha.
      And one time I was jamming to Down on Main Street (a long time ago – cos I never listen to Segar) and I realized the content was about a strip dancer! So funny how sometimes we don’t realize the lyrics at times -o
      And the show you are watching sounds interesting – thanks for the comment on that pole –

    1. Hi S – I “think” the staples were from posters and signs – but I have no idea. They seem to all over the place and so what do you think? is it from posters or put there to prevent squirrels from climbing maybe??

      and I wonder if the animal was lost and they put it there if someone came back
