Happy Friday Readers,
End of Summer brings many things our way.
This includes SUNFLOWERS.
When I saw the Friendly-Friday Photo challenge was “leaves” this week (here) I decided to feature this summer gem.

Here is a slideshow with the rest:
Have you had a chance to walk this week?
We took two walks this week – woo hoo – so nice to get out there and get some steps in…)
Saw this rainbow on Walk #1:
On Walk #2, the hubs tried to help a cat in distress.
We kept hearing this cry-meowing from this dumpster. Could not figure out where the feline friend was.
Turns out – the kitten was UNDER the dumpster. Right when we found where the kitten was, a Vet Tech came along and took over. She lived nearby and went to get the cat some food. Whew.
Lastly, on both walks – spotted some weeds with fun leaves and blooms (linking to Cee’s flower of the day – here).
Hope your end of August is Awesome- 🙂
Thank you for your visit.

There’s a reason Van Gogh chose sunflowers. Everything about them is made for the canvas. And those berries, what a vivid color purple!

you are so right – and years ago when I taught art (years ago) a favorite workshop was sunflower themed day – and would set up a still life of sunflowers and then have some “famous paitining” copies hanging for inspiration –
– we had at least one copy of a van Gogh sunflower (as you know – he had a handful to choose from) – and then had a Monet, and had sunflowers on a chair by Paul Gauguin, sometimes O’Keeffe – and then liked to have print of a sunflower painting by gustav klimt (check out Klimt’s work if you do not already know it)
students had a lot of success with it too –
thanks for the comment 🙂

Klimt’s works were rather provocative. His sunflowers in the garden (I think?) was very reminiscent of Van Gogh.

Thanks for joining in on my Friendly Friday Photo Challenge. I do like Sunflowers. They make me smile and the fact that they are the only flower that turns its face constantly to the sun makes them special. The leaves though are what also stand out amongst other flowers.

thanks – and they are also easy to grow (even though we have not grown any on years)

Thanks Alli – I was a little nervous when hubs was maybe going to go inside the dumpster (that is just dangerous with misc stuff in there) but thankfully we realized the cat was underneath – and then when the tech came out – even better

Such beautiful pictures, Y! Sunflowers are just so very cheerful! The weather is just perfect for walking now. Once I gt over this end-of-summer cold, I hope to do some of that myself! Have a fabulous weekend! 😀

I have not had a chance to walk this week, nor have I seen any sunflowers. I am suddenly feeling sad about both things, but will correct this over the weekend.

Hi Yvette, The sunflowers are truly a gem. I had not thought about the leaves since the flower usually takes centre stage. Beautiful photos! Thank you for sharing:)

Hi – that was exactly how I felt – the flower – and those seeds -always took center stage
and the leaves I grabbed here were not on purpose – I did a quick photo shoot and was on my way – it was later when i saw how nice the leaves were and then linked to the FF challenge

Tara – I feel that way too – and these sunflowers were smaller and shorter than some of the ones I have seen – but still bring the smile you noted

What gorgeous sunflowers – they make you smile just seeing them don’t they? How fortunate for the kitty that a vet tech happened by … she went to work getting some food for it – talk about being in the right place at the right time … you and the rainbow, the vet tech and a kitten in distress.

Hi – thanks so much for taking the time to visit and leave a comment – I am also glad the kitten was in good hands – but I also think my husband was rescued in a way because I was hinting that I might want to keep the kitten if nobody claimed it – and we are not quite ready for pets again anytime soon – 🙂

I lost 4 cats one after the other a number of years ago. I am happy to welcome three feline visitors into my garden but like you, I am not ready to adopt another cat yet.
