DYING QUESTIONS (2020 Countdown Day 9)

The start of the week for many. 

And this is Day 9 of the Priorhouse countdown to 2020.

Now you know I am cleaning out folders, right? Trying to get a few things cleaned up as I finish off a “to-do” list.

 So today… more leftover images.

This first one was in a folder since Spring 2016.

 I am not trying to slam anyone. I am not trying to judge or be mean. But this cover implies that we can “juggle it all” and “thrive.”   The truth is  – we will pay a price in the long run if we juggle too much for too long.  We have to draw boundaries. Pull back at times – even if that means loss in other areas ($, promotion, accolades, etc.) – because your health is worth more than any of that.  —-   Now is it just me or does this family look tired? The photo did not imply to me that they were juggling it all and thriving. 
These questions about dying were in some papers in the attic from 2001. I needed an online version and so I thought I would share them here. We used these questions in small groups and the replies provided rich discussion. Maybe over the upcoming holiday you can go over the questions (or not)- but for some people, pondering a list like this could be very enriching to their outlook and life planning. People perish for lack of vision. And people do not always live their “best” life if they do not assess and check in regularly. 
I loved the green in this tree bark – photo taken a couple of years ago.
A colleague joined in on one of our activities (Spring 2018) and this was her chalk art piece. I had some photos to send her and finally got around to getting them together.

Now isn’t this turtle plate nice? The color scheme matched this post – so here ya go – some art on a Monday.
This beach photo – with the tracks making the turn – reminds me that life has corners, detours – and u-turns. This photo reminds me that we need down time in life.  We need to maybe ponder the “dying questions” once in a while – and make sure we are on the right path to get to where we really want to end up.

      and after I read it – well a bit later I realized something I love about you. Because anyone who follows your blog knows you are a strong evangelical Christian and you love teaching about the Bible and talking about heaven and the life to come there – you know. it is just you – and well – what I realized what how you can can switch gears with smoothness – and in this post – with dying questions – well it is not a faith-based (or religious) kind of list.
      Instead – it is just a list I used a counselor back in 2001 – and it is to help people think about their life and death and it is aimed to use in a work place group – where we sometimes talked faith – but mostly addressed the person and some basics about growth and wellness.
      anyhow, I love how you did “not” come here with a preaching mindset – and you did not have to say “now what would we Christians say about dying questions” – because we do have a different list (like who is on our welcome tram in heaven, what treasures might we have sent ahead…. and who will god say “depart from my – you who did such and such)
      instead – you just chimed in and did not have to add anything religious or faith based – and if you would have felt led to do that I would have respected it – but I just wanted to

      how nice it was
      to read your comment
      because it was not trying to squeeze in evangelism at every comment share (like some folks really do feel obligated to do)

    1. Hi – same here Ritva, I do not mind busy seasons – and sometimes the hubs and I have times we are “burning the midnight oil” but then try to catch up and have down time seasons – and be very intentional for health reasons –

    When I first saw the turtle plate, I thought it was literally the paint palette for the photo! Haha!
