For a while now, I have been wanting to join in with this photo challenge called “Regular Random Five-Minute”
Su Leslie (here) has been doing this challenge for years. So has Julz (here).
Now it is my turn…
Last October, I spent five minutes capturing some seeds.
The seeds were near this little stream….
Care to join in? Regular Random is a photography project from desleyjane pictures. There are two versions:
Version 1:
- choose a subject or a scene
- spend five minutes photographing it – no more!
- try to not interfere with the subject, instead see it from many angles, look through something at it, change the light that’s hitting it
- have fun!
- tag your post #regularrandom and
- ping back to Desley’s latest post
Version 2:
- choose an object
- spend five minutes photographing it – no more!
- put the object in different locations to see how the background or surroundings can change the way the object looks
- have fun!
- tag your post #regularrandom and ping back

Very nice and close-up of milkweed – I never knew what they were when we called them Santa Clauses as kids.

Hi – that nickname of Santa fits that feathery seed quite well!

Yvette, After seeing your photos, I have a new appreciation of seeds. With Spring around the corner here, I may take some photos of seeds on my walks. I like all of the photos, especially the very delicate, white, wispy one. Interesting, fun, post.

Thanks for your visit and hope you find some fun seeds on your walks. I did do another five minute photo shoot with seeds – right after I posted this post! I will try and get those photos into a post next month…. taking photos really does help us “see” more eh?

You are right, Yvette, how taking photos has truly opened up the world surrounding me. I have been thinking about you recently since I did begin reading “Grain Brain.” I just renewed it again since I had a few books going at the same time. Many gems, so far. I know you working on some additional projects, and I hope things are going well.

Your study of the seeds paid off in that last photo above the gorgeous stream. The light, the details, the composition are all stunning.

That is a clever challenge to get our creative photo juices flowing and a great way to practise photography, using different angles etc. The main photo is just lovely. You have captured the delicate nature of the white tendrils of the seed beautifully, Yvette!

Lovely! I enjoy the ethereal fairy wishes milkweed plants let loose upon the breeze. I also love the fact that the plant draws butterflies. I grew a golden variety this year and the pods produced a lot of seeds with the fluff attached. I was thrilled. I saved some to plant. I’m hoping the original plant makes it through the winter, and that I can successfully start a few new plants from the seeds I collected.
