Holidays Table Settings & New Puppy (Lens-Artists’ Photo Challenge #128, 12/24/2020)

Over at the Lens-Artist Photo Challenge, the theme is Holiday Season

The Priorhouse take has some table setting ideas.

This was inspired because Aletta shared her table set up:

I have a slide show with some table setting ideas –However, before I get to that, let me quote my good friend Linda, as she described this year so well:

“The year 2020 has brought a new normal and a host of weird and wacky events, the likes we’d never dreamed about”              ~Linda Schaub  (here)

Doesn’t this broken snow globe feel a little like this year? Sorta?

Now the slide show:

And guess what?

My son and his fiancé got a new puppy.

They have been thinking about it since last summer and the right pup came along for them last week and we all feel like new parents/grandparents.

They visited us for a few days and it is so special. woof.

Meet Taro Prior (yes, he was named after the vegetable root, taro, because they said he looked like this root – and they liked the sound of the name)

  1. That snow globe . . 2020 in a nutshell.

I love the table settings, right up my alley.

And Taro . . . oh me goodness what a beautiful little addition to the family. I love him.

    Merry Christmas Yvette

  2. Thanks so much for mentioning my take on the year 2020 Yvette … and the reference to my blog as well. Yes, never in our wildest dreams could we imagine this. I know in school we must’ve learned about the Spanish Flu Pandemic of 1918, yet I can’t really recall learning about it. We probably thought “that was then, this is now – that’ll never happen again” – how wrong we were. Taro Prior is a cutie pie. Congrats on your new grand-dog. 🙂

  3. I love a pretty table setting. We set the table this year for the usual number of people who attend but couldn’t due to COVID. It looks pretty and that’s a nice comforting tradition. The puppy is adorable. Merry Christmas to you and yours, Yvette!

    1. Hey Tara – good idea to set the table for that number and just enjoy the mood – I decided to set it for the four of us and we had breakfast there a couple days ago – and wishing you a great Christmas Day!
      🎄😊

  4. Love your table settings, Yvette. That stocking! And the little new puppy of course – a sweetie. But bigger they get… The broken snow globe feels rather – a correct description of this year…well done.
And sending wishes for a Better New Year!

  5. Great blog – thanks for finding me at Roughwighting. Just the two of us yesterday -my guy and me – since we’re being super careful and didn’t join our daughter/husband and grandkids. But… we still set our Christmas table with the xmas mats/napkins/lights and joy. We also have a grandpup (and a granddog/senior). Great way to enjoy dog company. 🙂

  6. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas Yvette. I am totally stealing that cutlery in the stocking idea for a future table setting. Looking forward to next year when we can have gusts to the table! The pup is super cute. Congratulations on being grandparents. xo

    1. Hi Sue – the dog is full-time work – but they are up for it
and the stocking and silverware idea was not mine ((well we know there is nothing really truly new under the sun anyway)) but it can be a fun way to add some vibe – and even just one or two things can be more than enough –
      happy new year and ttys

  7. Thanks for sharing your holiday table setting ideas, there are a couple I’d like to try. Love little Taro, he looks precious! When they are his age it is easy to quickly forgive them.😊 Happy New Year!
