Heart air plant, street art, SUMO orange, and Shopping Cart Club (Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #134 02/06/2020)

This week, Tina invited folks show a few images that may not have met original expectations but through editing  turned into keepers.

I decided to use some fresh photos, from a trip to Wegman’s grocery store this weekend.

First, air plants in hearts: 

Before: I thought these were cute –
After: This crop made the back ground change: Doesn’t it look like there are clouds at the top part and perhaps an art painting in bottom of the background? – the yellow and red – maybe a slice of a Mondrian?

Second, Street art:

#2 Before: Street art for sure! Someone had fun.
#2 After – “Hey honey – I loved your abstract street art so much – I hung a few of them up…”

Next: SUMO Mandarin Oranges

#3: Before – funky-shaped oranges caught my eye.
#3 After: “Dare to be different, baby! Be You – and only you! Be you… and celebrate your shape – and hue.”

Also at Wegmans: Shopping Cart Return

Last month – was chatting with Janet about the shopping carts at stores. We talked about the exercise we get (yes – it is good for us) to walk the cart back to the store (or even just walk it back to the little spots they have designated). Anyhow, one of my husband’s health coach colleagues, Ste, has a “sunrise club” and a “shopping cart club” – The sunrise club is a virtual group where folks share photos of starting their day while enjoying the early hours and the rising of the sun. The shopping cart club is similar – I guess folks just join in to make time to bring some carts back to the store – not sure if they take photos when they do it – but I took a photo last night to share how I do this. I am not part of the club (but could be if I went to that social media platform and joined in) but I have been doing this on and off since around 2012 and so my “shopping cart club” is established. I prefer to bring in three carts real quick like – once tried a few more cars but it is tough work – and – we do not want to get injured. So three carts is my max. Now of course I do not always do this – but try to wheel in a few carts when I can – it does give my body that little bit of “strength-workout” and maybe it helps a little. You might not ever want to wheel in carts – But please get your body moving – today’s knowledge work and digital world has us all sitting way to much – and the luxury of paying for services sometimes also robs us of moving our own body!! Sp please do not forget to use your body. Get that body movin” and you will some nice edits in your body with a little sculpting and hardiness. 🙂

I think the cookie decorators were a little biased for the Chiefs:

Well maybe there was no bias – but the Chiefs’ cookie does stand out more. 

 

Speaking of Superbowl – I am 60% going for the Bucs and 40% for Chiefs. What about you? Or are you not watching at all?

  1. Oh I love the little hearts with the cacti Yvette.
    Soooo wild we have a wonderful nursery here called Wegman’s!
    What a brilliant idea your husband is doing.. and you creating your own shopping cart club.
    Got to love!!! 3 carts are better than one.. you should be getting a discount on your groceries but hey the excersice is awesome.. start lunging your way down for added muscle work.. 😎.
    Super bowl… I slept in the catch when I was there for superbowl when Joe Montana caught the ball or threw the ball for the win. I’ve got the food and will see it between whatever else I do.. write and w/o I expect.. 🤣🤗

      they would make some great valentine’s day gifts and these have come down in price – they used to be around 20 and 25$ and now only 6$
      i didn’t get any this time because just don’t want any right now –
      as cute as they were

  5. I have gone through closets/drawers/trunks the same way you went through your photos. I find nothing of use but keep it anyway.
    And then one day I know exactly what and how I am going to use something! But then can’t find it. 😦
    Glad you found a creative way to display your keepers. 🙂

  6. Loved your examples Yvette – especially the very clever clothesline! Very unique, don’t think I’ve seen anything like it before. Also your heart-plant example – excellent eye on that one!

    1. tina – thanks so much for the positive comment -whew – that was nice. i was unsure of what to share for this fun theme. I started with a handful of dandelion photos and then went in a whole different direction.

    1. Hey JT kansas City sure does have soul – and a rich history and both the kansas one and missouri one – the first time we visited there it was ’97 – great fun and stuff to see – only negative was it was winter so it was arctic cold

  11. Took me five tries to load the post, Yvette, and that’s why I haven’t commented on your Thursday Doors post. I couldn’t get it to load after several tries. Not sure why that is. But to the business at hand…

    Those heart planters are cute and I like what you did with the street art shots. Thanks for the mention in the shopping cart section. I returned and straightened some more yesterday. 🙂 I’m going for the Chiefs all the way, but since my Packers aren’t there, I’m not completely into it. We’ll be going to my parents’ house to watch with them and have pizza.

  13. I love the street art. Lots of textures! Super Bowl? We are hugh Chiefs fans. Everything that could go wrong, went wrong. EVERYthing. ‘Nuff said.

      you said that well
      and think there was one more thing that could have went wrong —
      Mahommes could have been seriously injured – and even though limping and needing much recovery time (physically and in huber) we surely haven’t seen the best from this player and he has years ahead of him

  19. I’ve not been to the grocery store since November 23rd and the things I miss most are crusty bread and Clementines. I love those Clementines but I also get these oranges with the knobs on them if they Clementines are puny or withered. I’ve never seen knobs the size of these though!

    1. Hi Linda – I have never seen the shape of these mandarin oranges either
      and crusty bread and oranges both sound good right now.
      In early January we grabbed a few bags of pears – they were on sale and we thought why not? and mmmm – what a treat

      1. Yes, yummy for sure. I like pears too. The financial guy I use sends his clients a box of Harry & David pears for Christmas every year and I received and savored them at the holidays.
