Ordinary Colors with Extra-Ordinary Vibes (Lens-Artists’ Photo Challenge #169: 10-09-2021)

Hello Readers, the Lens-artist theme is Ordinary this week: The host, I.J., noted this:

“I’m sure you have experienced it yourself as you walk about with a camera in your hand, thinking only that you want to take photos. Perhaps you are wishing you had found a less ordinary place.

But then something happens as you look around and begin to assess everything as a photo.

Suddenly parts of the ordinary no longer look mundane.

Share that moment from your archives. Or better still, enter the zone, and bring those moments back with you to share.”

~I. J. Khanewala

____

I found ordinary nature colors that gave an extraordinary vibe:

Starting with delicious orange from the snap dragons and pumpkins in the background (with some radiating mandevilla).

***

A cluster of orange signaling change:

Next up

– not your ordinary PSL – Pumpkin Spice Latte – there is a new kid on the block this fall – dairy free and dates for sweetener

Also, in this ordinary green drink we have flavor and nourishment

Next – It was an ordinary afternoon – then in the parking lot – we looked up to see a burst of orange in the sunset – giving a colorful goodnight:

***

Ordinary leaves take on a jewel-like shimmer if you catch them in portrait mode:

***

Rainbows sound rather ordinary – but when you see them in real life they feel quite extraordinary:

***

Ordinary sidewalk chalk can lead to a colorful game of “toss the bean bag” – where the first one to reach 1,000 points wins – oh… and you have to dance anytime you land on a number with a zero in it – and then do a special dance if you hit the number “99” – because 99 is not an ordinary number on the board.

🙂

Appreciate your visit  –  and thanks to I.J. for hosting.

Next week Patti hosts and  then the other hosts are: Leya, Amy, Tina

  1. You’ve captured some fabulous colours here, Yvette – stunning photos. But as for Pumpkin Spiced Latte, sorry but I prefer my coffee to taste of coffee!

        1. Clive in my last comment to you I almost mentioned the tea ☕️ because I knew you were a purist with tea also – ((and if you use a bag – never leave it in the mug while drinking) 🙄

        2. I think of it as being traditional: if it doesn’t contain tea, it isn’t tea – it’s an infusion. It’s the same with coffee – why fill the cup up with other muck?! Good advice on taking out the teabag, which also applies to the teaspoon 😉

  2. Some amazing images here. It’s always a pleasure to see a rainbow. The discovery of portrait mode for leaves gave you a very interesting photo. I think I would like to taste the “gentle green” juice.

    1. Thanks Tina – and I think with the rainbow – my thought was that I tend to hear the word rainbow and think little – like I had jeans with a rainbow in the pocket or we see a rainbow in a commercial for cereal (ha) and so the word doesn’t tend to illicit the beauty and awe that unfolds when we see one on a walk – something like that!
      Thanks for the comment

  4. I love this post’s variety and colors – yes, the leaves do look pretty how they shimmer. The PSL looks delicious. I’d try the green juice, but would reach for the PSL first. The sidewalk chalk – wow!

    1. Linda! I almost linked your blog with the PSL because I think of you often when I see them- and remember the time I asked you to explain the PSL to me (duh) anyhow – I should have linked you but glad you found it without a ping!!
I can’t have the Starbucks one but the juice laundry one is life giving (but wish they had one with stevia or without the dates)
Thanks for true comment and visit

      1. I bought the powdered Starbucks PSL at the grocery store. I think there were five packets and I found them way too sweet. I did buy some pumpkin spice creamer for a treat, but I like my coffee hot and it cools it down too much. I used to buy apple cider every year, a half-gallon, but find it to have too much sugar, but I would like to try the honeycrisp apple cider sometime. They just make limited quantities of it.

  5. Oh, what gorgeous photos! Your Juice Laundry juices look delectable. I’ll have to see if we have that here. That sunset was wonderful, and what are the odds of seeing a DOUBLE rainbow? Thanks so much for visiting and commenting on my blog, and leading me back here. 🙂

  6. Well
My pleasure and I enjoyed your post! Went there from dan’s links –
And cheers to the times in our life when we see rainbows in nature – eggs in a nest – and a newly arrived butterfly – some of the little gems in life eh?
And the Juice Laundry is a small start up from Charlottesville Virginia – and they had to close the Richmond location because of COVID – but I think they are gaining momentum again
And hope you find some good drinks in your area – after all that juice I needed some red meat- hahaha

  7. Your ordinariness is extraordinary indeed, Yvette! (And I see we both were into lines and laundry ;-D) And I love that rainbow.
