A Day in the Week (Lens-Artist Photo Challenge #172: 11-2-2021)

Hello Readers, the Lens-artist’s theme is

A day of my week – which is hosted by Amy

A typical day at Priorhouse starts with a journal entry. Well if there is time and if I am in the mood – which I would say is 75% of the time. Then, if the weather permits, I try to write outdoors – (so the body can do some synthesizing of Vitamin D3 and to enjoy nature). But  inside journal time is fine too.

On this day in my week – it started raining when we went to vote.

THE LEAVES LOOKED LIKE FRENCH FRIES-   Or was it because We were hungry?

BACK AT HOME, THE CHOCOLATE WE MADE YESTERDAY WAS NOW READY

RECIPE

5-Minute Dark Chocolate (No-Sugar) Recipe

In a nice quality cooking pot, use the stove top to melt down a 16 oz. bar of unsweetened all-natural chocolate- (don’t microwave because it damages food!)

* add in a little butter and splash of Avocado Oil

* add in ten drops of liquid vanilla stevia (we used 365 brand) – stevia drops vary so adjust amount to your liking

* mix well

* add other items – in this easy batch I added almonds, walnut pieces, and shredded unsweetened coconut – then stirred well

* spread out mixture onto parchment paper and let cool for a while or chill overnight

* enjoy your sugar-free dark chocolate with lots of flavor and crunch – mmmm

THIS CHOCOLATE GAVE ME ENERGY TO PRACTICE TAP DANCING

The tap dancing started last month. Because when I was cleaning out the closet I found a pair of tap shoes that I originally grabbed for a neighbor in 2019. They were on a blowout sale and her daughter does all kinds of dance.  However – the reason those shoes were on clearance (we later found out) was because the stated size was “off” and they didn’t work for her – so I kept them. Turns out – with thick socks they fit me and so in early October, I found them and on a whim, decided to brush up on tap basics (I have some tap dance in my  background because I was a theater arts major a long long time ago – and I did a group tap performance in 1994  maybe pictures of that another time – ha)

Here are the shoes – and this photo was also “last on the card” for October – so linking with bush boy’s challenge.

DO YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY I DECIDED TO KEEP ON TAP DANCING RIGHT NOW?
Because it is so good for brain health – and gives me one more ways to “get that body movin”- 😊

The challenging of the brain with thinking about step, heel – and flap or shuffle – is giving my mind a workout!

After tapping in those clearance tap shoes – I found I still had some better-fitting tap shoes – Now thanks to wonderful YouTube-  I have had some easy lessons to practice with – 🕺
It is fun to also have the tap shoes that didn’t work out for my neighbor – I might get rid of them but right now I like them for the different feel that comes with the higher heel.

SO MANY THINGS CAN GIVE OUR BRAIN A WORKOUT WHILE OTHER THINGS ALLOW IT TO RELAX.
And marveling at this funky bird and tree dress was easy on the brain  – and brought a smile to see the craftsmanship and the beauty.  So linking to Trent’s Weekly Smile.

That is all for this day in a week! Thanks for your visit.

    1. Hi Sylvia – well I am practicing tap at 15 minute intervals – a little longer a couple
Times but it is a lot of work to tap!
and my coordination kind of stinks — ha — on the left side especially – which makes me want to do it more — because I see how much it could be helpful)

  1. Those leaves do look like French fries!! Hehe, made me giggle… And the chocolate bar looks scrumptious! That’s so cool you use to tap dance. It reminds me of when I was really young, around 10 yrs old I took ballet lessons. I really enjoyed ballet and took lessons for a couple years but at the same time I also got my first horse. Well, the horses won and I stopped taking ballet.
Funny thing, my older sister who is shorter took ballet for many years and excelled and eventually taught ballet herself. She always wished she had my long legs! Anyways, thanks so much for sharing the links too… I’m wanting to share a smile post this week so am hoping to do that for Trent’s fun smiles! 🤩❤️

  2. Made me smile with the glimpse into your day. Good on you for the tap dancing! If those leaves look like French fries, they are rather well-done! Also, that chocolate! 😋

    1. Hi BB- good eye on the wood –
We have two big sheets of that Plywood in the garage from when son2 used them for a drum riser – glad we kept them because it works great – also have a hardwood floor for mild tap – but don’t want to ding that up

        1. Hahah – there are also a lot of steps that can be practiced with sneakers – and the one guy suggests doing that (using sneakers often) to condition the lower legs and prevent shin splints

    1. Hi Amy – I agree that some chocolate can be good for you – but in my experience people who have daily chocolate that has added default sugar can impair immune function – so it is the cocoa that can have antioxidants and other “good for you” perks – but not when a chocolate bar has 18 or even 30 grams of sugar – but didn’t really want to go there on that topic – hope
      Your week is going well

    1. Hi – it is a green plant that has very sweet leaves – I grew some a while back but never did much with it .
Anyhow – it has been used as an all natural sweetener and it is is our very favorite

      They offer powder and liquid

We also have “monk fruit” sweetener – and in texture it is more like the cane sugar normally used – but it is not my fav
And then xylitol is excellent sprinkled on a grapefruit or used on top of a Mocah – but many people have digestive issues when they use xylitol – but I Believe that is because they have “gunk” in their gut that the xylitol is combatting – and I know someone who could
Later use xylitol after cleansing the gut on and off for a year –
And Colton has antibacterial properties so it is often used in toothpaste – and Dave from Bulletproof blog uses some xylitol in an all natural sinus rinse he formulated (sea salt, iodine, and xylitol)

  3. I longed to tap dance when I was a child. Sounds like, and looks like, so much fun. It takes me back to first grade. Some of the girls were chosen to be tap dancers and some angels. I was chose to be one of the angels, and of course, always remember I wasn’t happy and wanted to be a tap dancer instead. Thwarted dreams…somehow they stay with us forever. Maybe I should get some tapping shoes! It’s good to read posts of blogging friends again.

    1. I have been thinking about you and your book is on the piano and will get it to you eventually – so thanks for the comment and visit
And you know – your story of the Tao dancers and the angels was interesting and so true how these memories stay with us
And just to add a layer / let us remember that if god wanted you to be chosen as a tap dancer you would have been- just like when I was a theatre major – when we had scouts come or when we had to audition – if God wanted any other path for me – those doors would have opened – but He moves us like cheese prices – and as children he loves – of course you know all that so just a reminder – but now that I think of it / even more fitting that you were an Angel because foreshadowing for the light and joy you would bring to so many !
      -/
And seriously – hope you find some tap shoes – I found some upbeat songs that help me practice and I am going to try and work on it until the end of the year – then give it up if I am tired of it.
But the YouTube video teacher also noted that we can and should practice in sneakers – helps condition the lower legs and feet and then work up to more time in the shoes,
Anyhow – I am really bad at this tap dancing but it is such a destressor

      1. Hi, you are so right about being where God intends us to be. I think I am blended in with the Tao dancer by mistake, but I certainly wish I was dancing with angels. Perhaps someday we will all be dancing in heaven.

        1. Yes – and I know my aunt is dancing there now – just sense it! She always had knee problems and I smile to think of it.
In the meantime – before we dance in heaven – let’s all remember that life is such a gift – every day is precious and even with challenges and trials – air in the lungs is no small matter
Have a great rest of the week and really enjoyed checking in
          🙏☀️

  4. Mmm indeed… I think I might give that chocolate recipe a try. 😀 . And I’ll keep tap dancing in mind, in case I really want to get on my downstairs neighbour’s nerves some day. 😉

  5. Your chocolate bark looks so delicious …. I would be hardpressed not to finish it all at once!
Is that embroidery on your last 2 images?

    Like

    1. Hi – the chocolate was a bit heavier than most chocolates so it did last for a few days – but some lighter batches might get gobbled up! Ha
And I believe that Long shirt has a bird and tree print and then the gold is a long piece of trim but don’t think it is embroidery / but maybe a seamstress would be able to name what that gold line is – thanks for asking about it. It was so beautiful in person to see the delightful print

  6. You had an exciting day Yvette – keep tap dancing away for the brain and then you can have an extra piece or two of the delicious-looking chocolate (made with butter).

  7. I love your tap shoes and the fact you are getting into it again. You are so full of life. I took tap lessons when I was in 3rd grade with a bunch of my friends. One of them had an older sister who was our teacher. The older teacher was in 7th grade. I remember we had a recital and I had a turquoise tutu and a skinned knee. 🙂 Love your recipe, too. I’ll have to try it. Commercial sugar free chocolate candies do bad things to me. 🙂

    1. Hi – yes – we stay away from all the commercial sugar free stuff because so much of it is junk!
And your tap tutu sounds fun – sans the skinned knee – and cheers to finding what we need to stay fresh and healthy

  8. Fabulous day! Hope you keep tap dancing and your dark chocolate recipe sounds delicious.
In one of your posts last year you used avocado oil and this summer I got it intending to use it for baking. But we ran out of cooking oil and ended up using the avocado oil. lol

    1. Well it sounds like you made the best choice to cook with avocado oil – I think it is one of the best for cooking because of the high point it can take before burning
      – and I am not sure how you feel about oils
      – but I am absolutely shocked by how bad canola oio and vegetable oil is for human health and cannot believe our FDA allows it to be sold – and then wonder why people have health issues

      Like

      1. Maybe we should switch to avocado oil for cooking…good to know about the high point.
EVOO oil is our main cooking oil since canola and vegetable oils give me a headache when I cook with it. Once my husband used vegetable oil for deep frying and we had to air out the house from the fumes. I’m sure I eat food made with that oil with take out or other foods, but I don’t use it.
I’m not even sure EV olive oil is good for cooking with the heat point.

        Like

        1. Yes – I think you are right that EVOO does not have a high smoke point
And it sounds like you already go with your gut on what oils to use
          – and we also use grass fed butter! Mmmm

          Like

        2. I heard that about EVOO too. I wonder if grape seed oil can withstand high heat. Got to check out Costco for avocado oil…we buy most of our cooking ingredients there.
Thanks for letting me know about grass fed butter. I didn’t know that was a thing. Last summer we made our own butter from half and half cream, part of kid’s summer class project.
