#ThursdayDoors (11-11-2021)

Hello readers, this week’s Thursday Doors post is starting with this nice white door

I was going to add in a red door and a blue door for Veteran’s day but decided I would share some photos from a June 2021 post, which featured doors from the Virginia War Memorial.

  1. Wonderful photos, Yvette, and a great subject to share on Veterans Day. I love the photo looking in through the glass doors. I also like the flowers and the flags!

  2. Thanks for helping us remember, Yvette. I love the way so many places in Europe have memorials for those who died in the world wars and lists of names of those from each village or area. Of course that’s really what we celebrate on Memorial Day here, but who cares? We should remember them all and the horrors of the wars that took them or in which they fought.

  3. The Virginia War Memorial includes more wars than our Lincoln Park War Memorial in Memorial Park, so I guess we ought to up our game as we have a few vets who died in those conflicts. We do have one statue, “The Military Field Cross”, of a young man who was killed when his vehicle went over a grenade. Then scrappers stole the metal from the boots/helmet and bayonet – luckily funds were raised for a new statue.

      1. I thought it was sad too Yvette – they raised the funds to get the replacements. I felt sorry for the family as they had a nice ceremony when they installed it and soon thereafter they were raising money to get another complete statue (which was the same materials).
