Hello readers, joining in with Sunday Stills #Light the Night

One of my favorite parts about Christmas is definitely the lights. This recent photo came to mind when I saw the theme for this week.

The next three images (from Virginia Beach, VA 2021) reminded me of certain bloggers. These displays light up at night, but the day view shows us the art, railings, and bows.

Photo: Today is Wednesday and I do not have enough for a “What to Wear Wednesday” post, but this dress really had us chuckle. I am not sure if I like it – but the old school bows made me smile. This dress also made me think of Ana (as many dresses do). Also, seeing an employee wear a version of this dress was fun (notice her dress has the sleeves). Do you like this “old school bow” holiday dress?

  4. What a WONDERFUL post!! The first photo is so pretty and then that Xmas dress with the bows made me giggle. I absolutely Love the photo of you and hubby 💜 with the lighted “almost” crown. I’ve been a tiny bit stressed here this last week, but am enjoying this holiday season despite the little bit of stress. I want to write one more post by or before end of year too reflect on 2021. I honestly can’t believe it’s almost 2022, so CRAZY!! Wishing you a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year! 💞☃️🎄❤️

  14. Wow Yvette… that’s some dress… so many bows 🙂 . It’s certainly not me, but it’s fun to see it on someone else, like those cute ugly Christmas sweaters (did that sound mean? 😀 ). My grandmother used to make those bows herself, but I don’t remember how (there was no bow she didn’t like, know how to make or want to pin in my hair, much to my dismay).

      I should have looked to see how the bows were attached – and hopefully they had Velcro so you could wash or dry clean the dress – because not sure the bows could make it through ?
      And pretty awesome that your grandmother was so good with bows – – and the hair bows are in a category of their own –

    1. Hahaha – that is a great question about the back and if it has bows / because I did not look at the back on the hanging dress or on the employee (if I go back I will see if they have any left and let you know)

  23. I love the sign at the end – ha ha. Your “crown” as well. The Christmas lights in these pictures are fabulous, especially the last blue tree. Two versions of a dress with bows is unique, just like the dress. It gives new meaning to the expression “putting a bow on it” doesn’t it? I remember those type of old-style bows. I just mentioned to a fellow blogger that my grandmother always saved the wrapping paper and bows … we’d be waiting to see her reaction to a present and she’d be carefully peeling off the paper and gingerly trying to remove these type of bows from the paper.

    1. Hi Linda – your grandmother sounded so sweet – I know a few folks that saved the paper and the bow (so thrifty and frugal) and I still sometimes snatch up the tissue paper that is in good shape 🙂

      1. Hi Yvette – my grandmother passed away in 1986, so the gift bags with the tissue paper inside were not a “thing” yet. And yes, she would open the present slowly to preserve wrapping and bows/ribbon. My mom said it was to tease us and make us wait to see her expression, but I think it was strictly being frugal, the mindset of living through the Depression era.

        1. I bet it was for being frugal too – and last year when I watched Pride and Prejudice (my favorite movie adaptation is the 1980 one https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078672/ )

          — the reason I like to watch it again each year – if possible – is because I often discover a line or ponder a scene in a new way – and this last year I noted when they talked about the value of a person having a sense of “economy” – I couldn’t find the exact quote – but it s close to a scene where the dad said it about the oldest daughter when she got married – he said with their iced personalities they would likely outspend their allowance each year and not know if anyone took advantage of them financially (something like that)—

          There is a gift to being frugal – it does help life with a certain contendedness and mindfulness s- but too thrifty can become problematic – eh?

        2. I never read the book nor saw the movie Yvette, but I have saved this link for the version you like. I have been compiling a list of movies and shows I’d like to catch up on once I am retired and will get cable or a streaming service. I have been watching a few things on Amazon Prime. Yes, frugal is good as long as you don’t let it get hold of you or become bitter for what you think you are missing in your miserliness.

    1. Hi same here – prefer to sleeves in winter – and maybe just on that dress in general – but I am not sure I would wear that – hmmm
