Hello Readers
I was over at LoisJay’s blog (here) and she shared this fun photo of her little “cool dude”-
It reminded some of us (her post readers) of Elon Musk (and we had fun with the Musk trail).
__
A quick Priorhouse shoutout to thank Elon Musk for what he is trying to do with Twitter – because in my opinion, anyone who advocates to stop censorship is one. cool. dude.
People, let’s all remember that
“we cannot silence those who we disagree with – they might just have the truth that we don’t see yet.”
Let’s remember that we could be wrong and the opinion we are so dogmatic about might just be, um, erroneous – part of human filters and natural bias.
Imagine being the one to challenge bloodletting – or to challenge those that didn’t cover wounds and thought wounds needed only air – some wounds need air- but there was a time they didn’t know to cover wounds. I could list so many examples of times the majority “got it wrong” and finally truth was seen ! but I will move on to just remind everyone that censorship and silencing is bad. It is dangerous.
“Censorship carries with it great risks. Societies that allow the voices of dissent to be silenced cannot call themselves democratic. By silencing opinions we widen the divisions that exist in our society.” ~ author unknown – (they were censored out)

STREET SHOTS
Now on to some Priorhouse Street Shots.
It has been a while since I shared some photos from the streets and so today’s cool dude theme has led me to share photos with folks “a little to the right….”

It starts out with a noble-sounding purpose–to keep haters away, keep feelings from being hurt, etc. But who decides what to delete or block? It’s a very, very slippery slope so kudos to those who try to avoid it. We have to all have thicker skin for the most part although some things are so vile that they shouldn’t be seen or heard. So many today are offended by almost everything (at least that doesn’t agree with their POV). Get a life. Get offline. Talk without hate and be willing to agree to disagree and simply avoid those who won’t do the same. I shake my head at those yard signs that say something like “Hate has no place here” and I want to go to their door and ask them how they feel about Trump or people on the other side of the political spectrum (either side.) Signs and slogans are easy; actually living them is much, much more difficult.

Janet – thanks so very much for your very thoughtful comment. It has me thinking – esp about the signs…
I didn’t mean to get started on this topic – haha – it really started with the little dude wearing sunglasses
and you sure said this right: “very slippery slope” indeed –

Thank you Yvette for cool photos of my beloved RVA. And yes, censorship creates boundaries. It keeps us from learning. It stalls communication and is isolating.

Hi – I am going to repeat what you just said – because it needs to be repeated “censorship creates boundaries. It keeps us from learning. It stalls communication and is isolating.”

Wow, did I write this? I just may be impressed with myself. Seriously though, isn’t it the most basic ideas that seem to be so difficult for some of us?

I don’t think Musk cares about Twitter at all and the whole thing was a scam that isn’t even going through…

I heard the deal might not go through – but I do think Musk cares about the arbitrary censorship and “quick to ban” policies over there – so I guess we shall see
thanks for chiming in and I am curious to see how it all unfolds –

Totally agree with you. There needs to be more moderation and less polarization.

Hi Chel – I like the idea of more moderation rather than the “ax” them (or ban them mentality)
thanks for the comment

I think the would-be censors don’t give people enough credit for being able to find things out for themselves and to tell the difference between brilliance and BS. I want to hear everything, what the experts have to say and what the “tinfoil hat” crowd has to say, and make up my own mind about what I’m being told. In authentic science, no theory is ever settled; it has to be proven time and again under multiple conditions. To declare that something is misinformation or hate speech is a not-so-subtle attempt at shutting people up. No, I want to hear everything, even if it hurts. I hope Musk does buy Twitter and makes it a place where people with differing opinions and theories can debate and share their thoughts and where maybe we can learn from each other and learn to compromise with each other again.

John – thanks so much for your comment.
And I am not a twitter user but it does sound like some shenanigans going on when the “Babylon Bee” (here) https://babylonbee.com
was axed off the Twitter platform – really? They are a comedy site and don’t take sides – and that was just a shock – and also showed how silly this silencing and censoring attempts are becoming.
**
Love how you said you want to hear everything – and it takes this exposure to decipher truth –
also good point about “science, no theory is ever settled; it has to be proven time and again under multiple conditions.”
so true and people need to be empowered to know more – not taught a narrow version of what someone thinks they should be exposed to – sigh

Hi – sorry for the late reply – my first comment back To You seems to have disappeared??
I like that you added in “free speech”
Because that is exactly what this is all about!

I love the cool dude baby photo – made me smile. I was walking through a big park a few years ago and saw a German Shepherd with colored sunglasses on … the frames matched the lens color and his owner/master had similar sunglasses on and a ZZ top beard. Thought of the song “Cheap Sunglasses” right away. I don’t follow Elon Musk on Twitter, but he pops into my feed sometime as other people I know do follow him. Since I had no car for two weekends, I did some street photography, some to do with art.

Linda – I look forward to your street Ohio when you get around to posting them.
And that German shepherd and his owner in the glasses sounds fun!

Yes, I took a picture of them posing together.
I’ve collected quite a few street shots Yvette, thanks to being without a car for two weeks – the old adage: if you have have lemons, make lemonade.
