Hello Readers
Today’s photo challenge theme is “summer vibes” hosted by https://solaner.wordpress.com/
The scent of fresh basil always delivers a summer vibe.
Of course a little basil adds a nice flavor to almost any meal.
The summer vibe in July means spring flowers are winding down
While other flowers 🌸 are starting to thrive, like the hearty Rose of Sharon.
And the “Rocket Mix” Snap Dragons will always remind me of summer 2022. They have been blooming wild and crazy this year.
Summer walks
And quiet time in the yard

I enjoyed sharing a snippet of your summer, Yvette. You’re not wrong about the Rose of Sharon. We have them thriving on the doorstep all across our estate right now.

Jo / this rose of Sharons in bloom sound amazing – I can imagine it!
They are such a sturdy beauty and usually easy (not like some finicky shrubs)
And hope you are having a nice ending to your weekend

We had a lovely evening in a small village full of candles and music, Yvette, but today we had a few clouds and we used the time to clean and organise for the arrival of our son next weekend. Wishing you a happy week 🤗🌺💟

You sure nailed it for Summer vibes here Yvette – your garden is beautiful and as I mentioned in a recent post, many people feel post-Independence Day, we are on the downswing for Summer. There is lots of Summer left to be had. My neighbor’s Rose of Sharon, same color, is a prolific bloomer and looks beautiful right now. Those Snapdragons are very pretty and dewy.

Linda / you are right about the vibe of post 4th because I just saw school supplies for sale! Yikes – but also we do have lots of summer to behold☀️
And the garden might be a little messy vibe this year but at least it is easy!

They had back to school items for college students/dorms a week ago already – too early. Shuttle them off to school and it will be the pumpkin spice treats next!

Ah…YES – you captured summer vibes well! That recipe looks delicious by the way – what is it? The grass is so green – I’d lay in it too to connect with the summer vibes of the earth.

Hi Shelley – Virginia is known for its green and I must say it is pretty easy to attain that lawn – we do treat it a little and try to keep it natural for the pups – but that is Virginia easy (and we are also know as the spider state)
And the recipe?
Thanks for asking – super easy and summer lazy meal
Two bison burgers – (we got some bison burger two packs on a close out and still have some in freezer) so once defrosted I pulled them apart and put them in the air fryer with salt, pepper and avocado oil – a few peppers (easy to grow) and then I stuffed pieces of basil in the meat and around it
Air fried until done and the meal that satisfies
😉

It’s beautiful grass. I’ve never been to Virginia, so I like seeing your photos. Spiders…um, well, you can keep them!
Yay – that’s an easy and tasty recipe. I’ll share it with Mr.!

Such a beautiful collection on pictures Yvette. I love the smell of basil in the garden and made my first pesto which was awesome. Your dogs are soooo cute and your boys on their walk!
Happy Sunday!

Oh thanks so much Cindy
And I would love to have your pesto recipe
The hubs has one with walnuts and he makes little cubes of pesto (using a silicone tray) and then he wraps them individually and defrost a cube as needed☀️🌸🍃🌱

Oh wow he’s smarter than me.
I never do anything exact anymore.
I can get that recipe if you want it?
But here’s my down and dirty recipe.
Go to the garden..
Grab a few bunches of basil.
Throw in pine nuts or walnuts or both.
We have walnut trees so I mostly use that.
When that’s ground up,
Throw in the basil
Then Parmesan and pour olive oil to a consistency that’s medium thickness.
oh I forgot… Add garlic in there chopped before the walnuts. How could I ever forget garlic?!
Add salt pepper and that’s it. Taste 👅 and flavor to your liking.
Thanks for that ice cube tip I’m going to do that!!!
💕💕💕❤️👍🏾
I use a very light food processor.
🥰

Thanks for sharing that recipe
Sounds like the natural and easy way to make it!
We have a few different silicone cube trays that work for so many things
And lucky you to have walnut trees
How very cool

Hi Anita
So glad you now have a garden
And hope your basil grows well for you
Our basil usually does really well from seed rather than buying starter plants.
